Street Fighter V Series Two
by Capcom and Wax
Available 1pm EST on 15 July 2021
About the creator
Capcom is a video game producer whose biggest hits include Street Fighter, Megaman, Resident Evil, and Monster Hunter. They’ve partnered with Wax, which is an NFT platform, to host the sale, minting, and inventory storage.
About the drop
The initial Street Fighter NFT drop hit in mid-February 2021 and was hugely successful. We did a twitter thread on it, which explained most of the mechanics and economics.
Series two looks to be very similar with a couple of key differences:
- All the cards are pre-minted, so there’s no rush to open packs to secure lower serial numbers.
- Some of the cards will be animated this time
- New rarities / parallels to add increased scarcity
The NFT cards are sold in packs of 10 and 60 (more on that below). Once you break your packs, you’re given the option of crafting the cards into more powerful / scarcer versions of the characters.
There are also two new characters to collect – Dan and Rose. While they sound like my 1950s auntie and uncle, they’re actually fighters in the game. Of the two, Rose is far more interesting.
Price
Just like series one, you can buy packs of ten or 60 cards for $9.99 and $49.99, respectively. Expect a few % platform fees etc to be added on.
How to buy them
You’ll need to set up a Wax Cloud wallet ahead of time, which is straightforward. The purchase itself is with a credit card.
Once you’ve got that sorted, turn up on the Wax Streetfighter site at 1pm EST 15th July.
