About Shang-Chi

Shang-Chi, AKA the Master of Kung Fu is a superhero in the Marvel Universe. He had his own standalone comics series from 1973 (when this copy debuted) up until 1983. He the son of fictional villian Fu Manchu.

The comic became very popular in the 1970s during America’s martial arts craze (Bruce Lee’s Enter the Dragon, The Way of the Dragon, and Fist of Fury were released in 1973, 1972, and 1972, respectively).

Shang-Chi doesn’t have any supernatural powers, but he is recognised as the best open-hand martial artist alive, and he’s been sought out as a teacher for Captain America, Spider-Man, and Wolverine.

He gets his first feature film debut this year in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. It’s the first Marvel film featuring an asian-decent lead.

Have a look at the trailer.

It, uh doesn’t look great if I’m honest. Reviews aren’t out yet, but keep an eye on Rotten Tomatoes.
