About the drop

About Ghost Rider

Ghost Rider, AKA motorcycle stunt man Johnny Blaze, agreed to sell his soul to Mephisto in order to save his surrogate father’s life. Mephisto bonded Blaze with a demon named Zarathos, and henceforth Blaze transformed into fiery skulled-out Ghost Rider whenever in the presence of evil.

Ghost Rider’s job is to seek vengeance and return evil-doers to hell.

The character was featured in several adaptations, most notably the horrific 2007 Nicholas Cage film and its completely unnecessary and even worse 2012 sequel.

The best part is where he whistles and his motorcycle comes to him and then sets itself on fire.

These films are bad even for Nicholas Cage.

Ghost Rider is a super strong character (physically) in the Marvel universe, but in terms of cultural appeal and relevance, he’s third-tier. He clocks in at number 56 in a list of the top 100 characters just above Bucky Barnes and Captain Britain. FWIW Black Widow is a travesty at number 55.

Worth noting this issue features the cameo first appearance of Daimon Hellstrom / Son of Satan, who got his own Disney TV show last year. Unfortunately, it was cancelled after ten episodes.

Recent sales history and Valuation

GoCollect values this issue at $10,500.

Verdict

If you’re a big Ghost Rider fan, you can pick up some highly-graded options up to around CGC 8.0 for less than $1,000.
