What is Fantastic Four #5?

Published in July 1962, Fantastic Four #5 is the first appearance of and origin story for Dr Doom, the main antagonist in the series. This copy is graded CGC 9.2 There are 16 copies at this grade and a further 16 with higher grades. It sits comfortably within the top 2% of graded copies, according to the CGC census.

Cultural Relevance

Dr Doom has made over 860 appearances in Marvel comics in addition to three Fantastic Four films. He’s listed as one of the top 50 Marvel villains, and this issue is one of the 100 key silver age comics issues.

There’s also talk of Dr Doom appearing in the forthcoming Black Panther sequel.
