Batman #2 CGC 9.0

Today we have a deep dive into a copy of Batman #2 graded CGC 9.0.

It IPOs on Rally at noon EST May 10th 2021.

If you’d like to invest in Batman in a more self-directed way, I’ve included a couple opportunities for that at the end of the write up. (Number three is my favourite).

What is Batman #2 CGC 9.0?

Published in 1940, this is the second issue of DC’s iconic Batman comic book series. It’s the second appearance of the Joker and Catwoman. It originally sold for $0.10.

It’s the only known copy graded 9.0, and there are only two higher (two 9.2).

It features a full-page ad for the 1940 New York World’s Fair, which is quite cool.

It IPOs on Rally at noon EST on 10th May for $85k. There is no retained equity.

Cultural Relevance

Batman actually made his debut in issue 27 of Detective comics nearly a year before he got his own comic book.

He’s one of the most iconic characters in popular culture and has been voted among the greatest fictional and super hero characters ever created.

The Guardian wroteBatman is a figure blurred by the endless reinvention that is modern mass culture. He is at once an icon and a commodity: the perfect cultural artefact for the 21st century.

As of 2018, his films had grossed over $6B worldwide.

The character is set for a second reboot in 2022 with Robert Pattinson playing the caped crusader.

Inferred Value – $66k to $85k
